Helen Crosby Strickland

Helen Crosby Strickland, age 87, of Baxley passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at her residence under the care of Regency Southern Care Hospice, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Mrs. Helen was born April 28, 1936 in Appling County to the late Julius Ernest Crosby and the late Alice Birtelle Kennedy Crosby. She was a member of Crosby Chapel Church where she was a former teacher of the Adult Sunday School.  Mrs. Helen retired from Atlanta Gas Light. She was an avid yard sale enthusiast and a dedicated mother and grandmother. Mrs. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, L. Jack Strickland.

Survivors include her son, Jack E. (Martha) Strickland of Baxley; daughters, Teresa (Mikie) Taylor and Carrie Ann (Mitchell) Stidham all of Baxley; grandchildren, Michael Taylor, Gena (Cole) Harrison, Jut (Adrienne) Taylor and Jared (Sabrina) Turner; great grandchildren, Presley Harrison, Addy Turner, Jude Harrison, Charley Anna Turner, Brown Alyse Taylor, Nate Turner, and Caleb Harrison; and brother, James Dolvin (Alene) Crosby of Decatur. A special family, The Nunez & Cook families and her caregivers, Angelica de la Paz and Betty Howard and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Pete Aycock, Rev. Bobby Gale, and Rev. Rick Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Crosby Chapel Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be John Crosby, Payne Eason, Stanley Land, Henry Strickland, Jr., James Cook, Greg Beecher, Stephen Tillman, Joe Taylor and Charles Coley.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the time of service.
